“Comic Book Live!” brings the coolest super-heroes to life using a variety of storytelling elements: cantastoria, a crankie, and puppets!

Puppeteers Jenny Hann and Christina Rodriguez bring the fantasy and excitement of a classic super-hero comic book off the page in this highly interactive retelling of real-life women super heroes throughout history.

The 30-minute storytelling experience begins with a crankie overviewing powerful women in history–from medieval times to modern. Highlighting the contributions of female artists, scientists, athletes, soldiers, and activists, Jenny and Christina cover real-life super hero stories from Joan of Arc to Megan Rapinoe and many in-between!

The main event features the story of Lakshmibai, a queen often referred to as India’s Joan of Arc. Using puppets to bring the story to life, the show recounts her diplomacy, strategic prowess, and bravery in battle while she fought (yes, fought!) to protect her kingdom of Jhansi against the East India Trading Company.

To conclude the experience, participants will construct their own puppets based on characters from the show. The entire experience will last about 50 minutes.
