TalkPOPc stands for Philosophers’ Ontological Party club. It is a non-profit founded by Dena Shottenkirk, who is both a philosopher and an artist.
Talk POPc sponsors one-to-one conversations with a philosopher in various places. Sometimes it is a local bar, or a city park, or Grand Central Station. We go into bodegas with the talk POPc tent, and hold a conversation with someone who has walked in to get a ham sandwich and walked out knowing so much more about their own thoughts.
We listen.
There are now nine philosophers who are regularly involved in the organization (this includes our mascot, Popsy, the Talk POPc Puppet), assisted by varying and indispensable philosophers from many different institutions. We have delivered dozens and dozens of meaningful conversations to many people–a great deal of whom would never have had an opportunity like this.
Change happens when people talk.
