Midsummer Night’s Dream – Prague

Hi all,

I’ve just uploaded a teaser video for ShakesBears version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  Check it out!

This short adaptation was performed for actual local children in the city of Prague in the Spring of 2016.  The performance was the culmination of about two weeks of carving, painting, stringing, and rehearsing with Puppets in Prague.

For any puppeteers and/or puppet builders out there, I absolutely cannot recommend any and all of Puppets in Prague’s workshops highly enough.   The above video is the result of my second workshop with them, and my heart already aches to go back.

Mirek–who teaches the workshops–is a supremely talented,  artistically meticulous, and infinitely patient master puppet-builder and teacher.  Anything that comes out of his workshop is touched with magic.  Seriously–try it!

His wife Leah does a supreme job of making everyone feel immediately as if they are a welcomed part of the puppetry/experimental theater scene in Prague. Not only is she herself an incredible resource, but she schedules as many theater visits as possible for the students, always with an eye towards new experiences and creating connections.

In addition, the two infuse their workshops with visits from other local masters in fields such as carving, painting, costumes, and performance.

Each in their own way these two incredible individuals provide an experience of pure inspiration. Leah reveals the artistic pulse of the city which says, “you can” and Mirek freely gives the of tools to say, “here’s how.

I can only aspire to share the warm inspiration I received at Puppets in Prague by using the beautiful puppets I created there!
